Airbus A330-300 in Lufthansa's current livery.

The A330-300 is quite new in Lufthansa fleet and surprising. This German airline had chosen Rolls Royce engine (British made)... quite strange, since Lufthansa is a loyal GE-engine customer. Maybe this is the only aircraft in Lufthansa that opted for non-GE engines.

Powered by 2 x Rolls Royce Trent 772B, carrying 221 passengers, this aircraft excels in ETOPS routes and the most efficient aircraft in its class. It is a stopgap for DLH before their Boeing 787 arrives.

Moreover, this aircraft, D-AIKE is named "Landshut", a name of a city in Bavarian region. Uniquely, it was the former name of a hijacked Lufthansa Boeing 737-200 D-ABCE also named "Landshut" back in 1977 by PLO front in Mogadishu, Ethiopia. This aircraft is still in service today.

Airbus logo and Airbus liveries are copyright of Airbus S.A.S, Airbus is an EADS company.
Lufthansa logo is copyright of Lufthansa A.G.
Rolls Royce "RR" logo is copyright of Rolls Royce plc.
