I probably can never say what my exact interest is. I have lots of them, as everybody do, but the way i see it, people can somehow pick the most of it, and say two or three specific subject of their interests. I just can't.

Well, if i can't be specific, so let's get general, I LOVE MACHINES... mean MACHINES!!!

Huge flying metal-composite monster, sleek land speeder, behemoth ocean conqueror, precise rail travelers, anything that moves and just cool. I reserve my most interest to airplanes because it is simply being cooler by working harmoniously with principles of science, the way nature flows. Their designs are never meant for the looks, its for the use, yet it looks so damn good.

Many years before i can occupy myself with this expensive and rare hobby, i was stuck with automotive world. It is the same killer-looking everyday machinery that you'd probably use at least once in your life time. I like the way they designed the headlights. That killer 'stare' of every car on the street usually came from the design of its front grill and headlights. The more aerodynamic they are, the cooler it looks. However, i found out that it is just a 'mere' design for the style, little functionality, because it does not affect the overall performance of the car or does it concern its users.

In 1998 automotive industry survey, the number one criteria of customer buying decision process in my country is simply "the style" or just "the looks" It ranks number one with 34% of the respondents choosing it over other criteria such as fuel efficiency, engine performance, after sales service, price, brands, etc. It is interpreted as: "If the car does not look good, i would never bother purchasing it or even put it into my consideration." The style is also one of the hit trends in car design, aerodynamic and functionality aside, style is more important, you can't just have a car with tacky look, and then hope with whatever marketing you spend on it can make a decent sales.

But this is airplane... come on, who cares for the looks? It is designed to carry people, just like buses, it flies, nobody can see it flying that high. Yet when on ground it amazes everyone. The latest creation, the Airbus A380 looks awful, with that big huge blunt nose. Now, who cares, really? Everybody just wanted to have a taste flying in this super jumbo for the first time, they even auctioned the tickets. So, it is in the end, "the most beautiful design." Because beautiful is not just about the looks.
